Corporal William Ethelbert C. MacVeigh

Corporal MacVeigh married Frances Emma Gahagan at the Church of Our Lady of St Wulston, Southam on 27^th November 1918. William came from an army family and he was resident at Winchester at the time of his marriage.

He had been a patient at the VAD Hospital but where and how he was injured is not known.  Frances was one of the VAD nurses and whilst personal relations were strictly forbidden between patients and nurses it was after the Armistice when their marriage took place. They received gifts from the Commandant and her colleagues and a celebration for the current patients and the nurses was held at The Grange.
