Percy Adkins

Second son of Arthur and Keziah Adkins, born in 1897, Percy lived in Southam from the early 1900s. His father was a bricklayer and by the age of thirteen he had left school to assist his father in the business.

He served in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment and after the war his name crops up in connection with the British Legion in Southam. He married Ellen Wickham in 1927 and the couple lived at 32 Norfolk Street Leamington. Percy was employed as a store keeper at Lockheed Ltd.

Percy Adkins did not enjoy a long life and died in Warneford Hospital when he was just 46 years old. His funeral was held in Southam Church, conducted by both Canon Jones and Rev. Beaty from Leamington’s Dale Street Methodist, and he is buried in Southam Churchyard.
